Affordable ATA Translation Services - Highly Accurate

What are ATA translation services?

ATA translation services are certified translations produced by a company that is a corporate member of the American Translators Association, the professional association for translators and interpreters in the United States, or by an individual translator who holds ATA certification. The ATA certifies individual translators in specific language pairs and directions; it does not certify translation companies or individual documents. Vanan Services is listed in the ATA directory as a company member; whether an ATA-certified translator is available for a given language direction is confirmed before an order is accepted.

Customers look for ATA certified translation services when a court, university, licensing board or immigration office wants extra proof of translator competence beyond a standard certified translation. A certified translation is any translation delivered with a signed statement of accuracy; an ATA-certified translator adds a tested, verifiable credential to that statement.

Vanan Services is an ATA corporate member with 17+ years of experience providing translation services in over 100 languages. Certified translation of vital documents is $25 per page, business and document translation is $0.10 per word, and audio translation and video translation are $7 per minute. Call 1-800-230-7918 for a free quote.

Discounts are available on bulk orders and for students and non-profit organizations; ask whether an eligible first-order promotion applies to your document when requesting a quote. We confirm translator qualifications, and whether an ATA-certified translator is available for your language direction, before accepting the order, and we work with students, job seekers, businesses, law firms and travelers.

Our process follows the ATA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice. Every project is handled by a native language specialist with subject-matter experience and reviewed in our four-stage process (translate, edit, proofread, quality assurance), with a dedicated project manager and a maintained glossary so terminology stays consistent across your documents. We cover over 100 languages and dialects, translate handwritten and scanned documents as well as editable files, and provide translations for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) submissions through our IRCC translation services.

Every certified translation is delivered with formatting & layout retention, reproducing the original's layout including stamps, seals, signatures and handwritten notes. Corrections to errors in our work are free within 30 days of delivery under our revision policy; final acceptance depends on the receiving authority's requirements.

Why Go for ATA-Certified Translations?

  • Higher credibility for official submissions
  • Tested translator competence
  • Accurate legal/technical terminology
  • Reduced risk of rejection or disputes
  • Consistent formatting for receiving authorities

Do you need an ATA-certified translator?

ATA certification is not a general legal requirement for U.S. document submissions. When a foreign-language document must be translated, the receiving authority usually requires a signed certification of accuracy, and some courts, universities and licensing boards also specify an ATA-certified translator. Check the instructions of the office receiving your document, then choose the level you need.

What USCIS requires

USCIS does not require an ATA-certified translator. USCIS requires that any foreign-language document submitted with an application include a complete English translation and a certification signed by the translator stating that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate from the foreign language into English, as set out in the ATA guide to USCIS certified translation requirements. Notarization is not required by USCIS. Every Vanan USCIS certified translation includes this statement.

Courts, universities, licensing boards and embassies

Each receiving authority sets its own rule. Courts may ask for a long-form certificate or a notarized translation. Universities and credential evaluators usually accept a standard certified translation and sometimes prefer ATA-certified translators for transcripts and diplomas. State licensing boards may require an ATA-certified translator for foreign credentials. Foreign embassies and consulates vary by country, and some require a sworn translation issued in that country instead of a U.S. certification. Tell us who will receive the document and we prepare the certificate in the format they expect.

ATA corporate member vs ATA-certified translator

An ATA corporate member is a company that has joined the association; membership shows professional affiliation and a commitment to the ATA Code of Ethics but is not a test of translation skill. An ATA-certified translator is an individual who has passed the ATA certification exam in one language pair and direction (how the credential is earned is explained under "Who is an ATA-certified translator?" below). Vanan Services is an ATA corporate member; where your receiving authority asks for an ATA-certified translator, we confirm whether one is available for your language direction before accepting the order and note the credential on the certificate when one is assigned.

How to verify an ATA-certified translator

Ask for the translator's ATA certification number (this is different from a membership number) and check it on the ATA's verification page at atanet.org/certification/verify, or search the translator by name in the ATA Language Services Directory and confirm the listed language direction matches your document. You can verify Vanan Services' corporate membership in the same directory.

Global Reach

Translate in Over 100 Languages

Over 100 languages, each handled by a native-speaking specialist in your subject area and delivered as a certified translation ready for submission. ATA certification exists only for certain language pairs and directions; ask us which of your directions can be assigned to an ATA-certified translator.

What is on our certificate of accuracy

Each certified translation ships with a signed, dated certificate that contains: a statement that the translator is competent to translate from the source language into the target language; identification of the source document and the language pair; an attestation that the translation is complete and accurate; the translator's printed name, signature and contact details, with the ATA certification number where the translator holds one; the date of certification; and Vanan Services' company details. We prepare the certification statement in short or long form based on the receiving authority's instructions. If notarization is requested, the notary verifies the signer's identity, not the accuracy of the translation.

ATA Translation Agency for Legal Documents

For legal documents, choose an ATA translation agency that employs translators with legal terminology experience and, where your court or counsel requires it, an ATA-certified translator for the language direction. We translate contracts, wills, judgments, court filings and other legal materials, and can arrange a long-form certification statement or notarization when the receiving court requires one. For supporting records such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates, vital document translation keeps names, dates and formats consistent across your filing.

Businesses protecting patents, trademarks and proprietary assets can use our intellectual property translations for filings and disputes. Acceptance rules differ by court and jurisdiction, so tell us where the document will be filed and we match the certificate, notarization and formatting to that court's requirements.

24-Hour Online ATA Certified Translation Services

Government agencies, universities, hospitals and immigration offices require or request a certified translation of foreign-language official documents, and you can order one from us online at any hour. Each translation is delivered with the signed certificate of accuracy that USCIS, courts and academic institutions ask for.

USCIS requires a certified translation but not an ATA-certified translator; where an office requests one, we confirm availability for the required language direction before accepting the order. We also provide notarized certificates and apostille-ready translations for international submissions (an apostille authenticates the notary's signature, not the translation itself), and adoption translation services for intercountry adoption files.

You can request online ATA translation services at any hour, and we serve clients in every U.S. state and abroad; translator availability and the delivery date are confirmed with your quote.

Standard delivery is 24–48 hours for most documents, with rush delivery within 2 to 24 hours on request (exact time based on document length, language and source quality), and you can choose digital & physical copy delivery: a PDF for immediate use or a mailed hard copy for official submission. We also provide the Vaccination record translation service for travel and medical purposes.

Who is an ATA-certified translator?

An ATA-certified translator is a translator who has passed the ATA certification exam, a three-hour proctored test in one language pair and direction, and who keeps the credential current through continuing education. They may sign certified translations with the Certified Translator (CT) designation and the ATA seal, which carries their certification number so that anyone can verify it on the ATA website.

You can find ATA-certified translators through the ATA Language Services Directory or through an ATA corporate member such as Vanan Services. For international hiring, our employment contract translation service covers offer letters, contracts and HR policies.

We deliver certified translations anywhere in the United States with a signed and stamped certificate of accuracy; an ATA-certified translator's seal is included when a translator holding that credential has been assigned. Retail and manufacturing clients also use our packaging translations for labelling and compliance text.

Industries That Commonly Prefer ATA-Certified Translations

While ATA certification is not a legal requirement in most cases, many US industries prefer ATA-certified (or equivalently credentialed) translators for accuracy, compliance, and credibility. These include:

  • Legal & Court-Related Services – Often preferred for litigation documents, affidavits, and evidence where accuracy may be challenged.
  • Universities & Credential Evaluation – Frequently accepted or preferred for academic records like transcripts and diplomas.
  • Government & Public Sector Contractors – Commonly requested in procurement or compliance projects to meet quality standards.
  • Medical, Pharma & Life Sciences – Preferred for clinical, regulatory, and patient-facing materials where errors carry risk.
  • Finance & Insurance – Used for high-liability documents such as claims, audits, and banking contracts.
  • Intellectual Property & Patents – Preferred for patent filings, prior art, and IP disputes that require precise terminology.

Case Study: English–Spanish Technical Translation for Oil & Gas Safety Manuals – ATA Translation Services

Client Information

Client Industry: Oil & Gas

Location: Houston, Texas

File Information

File Type & Size: Technical safety manual (PDF), 50 pages

Project Duration: 4 weeks

Goal

The client, a mid-sized oil & gas production company based in Houston, needed to translate their comprehensive safety manual from English to Spanish. Their objectives were to:

  • Ensure all field technicians and maintenance crews could access clear, accurate safety protocols in their native language.
  • Maintain absolute fidelity to industry-specific terminology and regulatory standards.
  • Meet an accelerated timeline to coincide with a scheduled plant expansion.

Key Challenges

  • Technical Terminology: The manual contained specialized petrochemical and rig-operation vocabulary.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Content had to adhere precisely to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.
  • Complex Diagrams: Many safety procedures were illustrated; labels and legends needed careful localization.
  • Tight Turnaround: The client required delivery within a month to avoid delays in training schedules.

Languages

Languages: English (source) to Spanish (target)

Delivery Time

Completed and delivered final translated files in 4 weeks from project kickoff.

Strategy

  • Terminology Alignment: A subject-matter glossary was developed in collaboration with the client’s engineering team to lock down key terms before translation began.
  • Specialized Team Deployment: A dedicated project manager coordinated two certified technical translators and one in-country reviewer familiar with Houston’s oil & gas regulatory landscape.
  • Diagram Localization: Vector graphics were exported and relabeled in Spanish, then reintegrated into the manual to preserve layout fidelity.
  • Iterative Reviews: Weekly check-ins with the client ensured real-time feedback, preventing last-minute revisions.

Results

  • Accuracy: The pre-defined glossary and in-country review process helped maintain consistent terminology before client sign-off.
  • Efficiency: The streamlined workflow and parallel diagram localization kept the project on schedule, avoiding any impact on the plant’s expansion timeline.
  • Safety Training: The translated manual supported the client's Spanish-language safety training for field technicians and maintenance crews.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from both management and field teams underscored how the translated materials improved overall operational safety.

Testimonial

"The translation service delivered clear, precise documentation right on time. Our Spanish-speaking technicians now fully understand every safety protocol, which has greatly boosted on-site confidence and compliance."
- Operations Manager, Oil & Gas Industry

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get every day, answered straight. No fluff.

ATA translation services are certified translations provided by an ATA corporate member company or by an individual ATA-certified translator. The American Translators Association certifies individual translators in specific language pairs and directions; companies hold corporate membership rather than certification. Vanan Services is an ATA corporate member; when a receiving authority asks for an ATA-certified translator we confirm availability for your language direction before accepting the order, and every order includes a signed certificate of accuracy.
ATA certified translation may be requested for immigration, academic, legal, business, licensing, or official document submissions when a higher level of translator credential is required.
No. USCIS requires a complete English translation and a signed certification stating that the translator is competent and the translation is accurate. ATA certification is not mandatory, and notarization is not required by USCIS. Every Vanan certified translation includes the required certification statement, and when an officer or attorney specifically asks for an ATA-certified translator we confirm availability for your language direction before accepting the order.
USCIS regulations do not expressly prohibit self-certification, but the receiving officer may question a translation certified by the applicant or a family member because the signer is also an interested party. Using an independent qualified translator or a translation company reduces that concern, and keeping a copy of the original with the translation lets the officer compare the two.
An ATA member, individual or corporate, has joined the American Translators Association; no exam is required. An ATA-certified translator has passed the ATA certification exam in a specific language pair and direction and holds the Certified Translator (CT) designation. Vanan Services is an ATA corporate member; the certificate on your order names the translator and states the credential they hold.
Ask for the translator's ATA certification number and check it on the ATA verification page at atanet.org/certification/verify, or look the translator up in the ATA Language Services Directory and confirm the language direction matches your document. A membership number is not a certification number. Vanan Services' corporate membership can be checked in the same directory.
No. The ATA offers certification only in certain language pairs and directions, mostly into or out of English. For languages without an ATA exam, a certified translation from a qualified professional translator may satisfy the receiving authority's requirements; confirm with that office whether any additional credential is requested before ordering. We tell you at quote time whether an ATA-certified translator exists for your direction.
No. A certified translation carries the translator's signed statement of accuracy. A notarized translation adds a notary public's confirmation of the signer's identity; the notary does not check the translation. USCIS does not require notarization, but some courts, licensing boards and foreign consulates do. Vanan offers notarization for $15 per page when the receiving office requires it; see our notarized translation page for how it works.
One page is up to 250 words of source text. Documents with more text are billed as additional pages or at the per-word rate, and we tell you the page count before you approve the quote, so the $25 per page certified rate is applied to the actual length of your document rather than to the physical sheet.
ATA translations may be accepted by many organizations, but acceptance depends on the receiving agency's requirements. Always confirm whether ATA certification is required before ordering.
Birth certificates, marriage certificates, diplomas, transcripts, legal records, business papers, immigration documents, and professional documents can be translated.
ATA translation pricing depends on document type, word count, language pair, certification needs, and turnaround time. Vital document translation generally starts at $25 per page.
ATA translation may be used when USCIS or another immigration-related party requests certified translation, but the final requirement should be checked with the receiving authority.
Yes. Every certified translation order includes a signed certificate of accuracy, prepared in the short or long form the receiving authority asks for. If an ATA-certified translator is specifically required, we confirm availability for the language direction before accepting the order, and the certificate names the translator and the credential they hold.
Yes. Rush delivery within 2 to 24 hours is available on request, with the exact time based on document length, language and source quality, and same-day delivery for short documents such as birth certificates and diplomas is confirmed before the order is accepted. Standard delivery is 24–48 hours. Tell us your deadline and who will receive the document when you request the quote.
Yes. Personal, legal, academic, and immigration documents are handled confidentially during the translation process.
Share the document, source language, target language, purpose of use, required certification type, deadline, and any agency instructions.
Search the ATA Language Services Directory by language pair and location, or order from an ATA corporate member such as Vanan Services. Our office is at 224 W 35th St #1206-5, New York, NY 10001, with walk-ins Monday to Friday, and certified translations are ordered online and delivered by email in every U.S. state, so you do not need a translator in your own city.
Certified translation of vital records such as birth or marriage certificates is $25 per page. Business and document translation is $0.10 per word, and audio or video translation is $7 per minute. Notarization is $15 per page and USPS mailing within the United States is $20. Final cost depends on language pair, subject complexity, formatting and turnaround, and every quote is itemized before you approve it; call 1-800-230-7918 for a quote.
Government, legal, academic and immigration offices in the United States require or request certified translations of foreign-language vital records (birth, marriage, death and divorce certificates), immigration and visa documents, academic transcripts and diplomas, court filings, contracts, police clearance certificates and medical records. The certification must be signed by a competent translator; an ATA-certified translator is required only when the receiving office specifically asks for one.
